St Clare's Catholic School Burdell

The Prep Year is considered the formal start of a child’s learning journey where students come together at the beginning of the school year with a mix of experiences, abilities, and natural talents.  The Prep Year is a full-time, five days per-week program. Children must turn five years of age by 30 June of the year they are enrolled (see below).

The following outlines what you can expect once you have enrolled your child in Prep, as well as some handy information on preparing for, and being involved in your child's Prep experience.

Following Your Enrolment:
  • Starting School information will be emailed and available online in December (Welcome Pack).
  • You will be invited to attend a Prep Orientation, which is a great opportunity for the whole family to build familiarity with the new environment.
 Prep Orientations:
  • Parents and students will be invited to an Orientation morning in Term 4. During this session, children will participate in a range of fun activities and will have the opportunity to meet their future classmates and Prep teachers. • Our Prep teachers will present information about our Prep program and be available to answer any queries you may have in Term 1 of the new school year.

Parent Involvement

St Clare’s Catholic School welcomes and encourages parental involvement throughout their child’s enrolment. We warmly encourage parents to be engaged in their child’s learning environment and journey, for optimal results both academically and emotionally. Parent engagement can take many forms – here are some examples:

  • Subscribe to the School newsletter
  • Become involved in classroom activities where possible
  • Attend School events and celebrations where possible
  • Talk to your child’s Teachers to discuss your child's progress
  • Download the Compass App for enhanced communications
  • Follow St Clare’s Catholic School on social media to keep up with whole school news and events
